Sewable Synths

Sewable Synths was an e-textile musical instrument building project, designed for primary school children. The project ran with Year 6 students at St. Bartholomew's Primary School, Quorn (Leicestershire, UK) in Spring 2014.

For the project, an electronic musical instrument was designed to made within a felt package. In workshops, the children embroidered an interface of conductive thread, allowing their instruments to be played by touch. The children each assembled their instruments and then experimented playing music in small ensembles.
